What to Expect At An ND Visit

What Can You Expect at a Naturopathic Visit?

Naturopathic physicians (NDs) work with you to encourage your body's built-in healing abilities and encourage health-promoting and disease-preventing practices through education.

The first visit is usually 60-120 minutes and follow-up visits are 30-60 minutes, although this varies depending on the ND. During your first appointment, your doctor will review your past medical history, discuss your current symptoms, perform physical exams, and provide patient education. Depending on your health situation, diagnostic tests or imaging may be ordered and treatment options will be provided. Naturopathic physicians stay up-to-date on the latest scientific research and incorporate this evidence into their treatment plans. If necessary, your physician will refer you to other health-care practitioners.

NDs take the time to carefully and fully assess a patient’s symptoms in order to address the root problem instead of just the symptoms. NDs speak and understand the language of conventional medicine and diagnose the same way as MDs —yet, they bring to the patient a whole new arsenal of treatments and insights.
