Third Annual Forum on Aging in Rural Oregon

The Oregon Office of Rural Health believes that rural Oregon communities have the potential to be ideal places to age. This event provides a forum where people can talk about their experiences, learn from one another, and bring forth new ideas. In addition, clinicians can get continuing education credits for their participation.

This week, we’re highlighting a special, pre-Forum workshop that is offered as a stand-alone workshop for $25! If you are attending the full Forum on Aging, this workshop is available at no additional cost.  Sherry Stock, ABD/PhD, CBIST will be leading Residential Treatment of Individuals Who Have Experienced Brain Injury:  Understanding, Managing, and Changing Challenging Behaviors.  Sherry’s workshops have received outstanding reviews in previous years, and we hope you can join us this year.
The Forum proper includes such presentations by:

  • Michael Knower, MD, HMDC, FAAHPM, and Chris Kelley, RN, MHL, who will discuss Navigating Rural Healthcare for Advanced Age Patients in the Years to Come;
  • Monica Sandgren of Oregon DHS’s Community Services & Support Unit will lead us through the Aging & Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) of Oregon and teach us about how to connect to community resources;
  • Patrick Arbore, Ed.D. will address the topic of Depression, Suicide, & Aging in Rural Communities; and
  • Leah Brandis of HealthInsight Oregon and Serena Hasworth of the PSU Institute on Aging will talk through MOVE-ing Toward Person-Centered Care and share practical tools for caregivers.
