Objective
This presentation will describe the various discourses taking place around psychedelic uses while defining the terminology most commonly used. It will then provide historical context including indigenous uses, the prohibition era, and the current renaissance taking place. The relevant neuroscience, including the entropic brain theory, and pharmacology will be covered for ayahuasca, psilocybin, LSD, ketamine, and MDMA. Legal, ethical, and therapeutic considerations will also be discussed including harm reduction and how to talk about microdosing.
