Pay Parity Legislative Update

SB 734 - We are currently waiting for a work session to be scheduled with the Senate Healthcare Committee. We are hoping for a unanimous vote count in favor, coming out of that committee with a "do pass" recommendation. Once the hearing happens, we expect a work session that will adopt our -1 amendment, and then vote to move the bill to the joint sub-committee on Ways and Means as the next stop, due to fiscal impact.

The fiscal impact of our bill comes from increased spending by the Public Employees Benefit Board (PEBB) and Oregon Educators Benefit Board (OEBB) plans managed by Kaiser, Moda, and Providence as they are also required to start paying NDs at market rates. We are expecting that due to the fiscal impact, the bill will then travel to the Ways and Means Committee, rather than going to the House.  Until that vote is complete, and the bill actually passes, what will happen is still unknown, and is always at risk of changing.
