As a community, we do much to ensure our expertise is broadcasted in other publications and other platforms, but what about our own?

  • HYPE helps enrich naturopathic platforms with our own expertise at a faster rate and in a more meaningful way.
  • HYPE provides major naturopathic organizations with "in the field" sources for quotes, subject matter expertise, testimonials, and more. When the public has questions about health and natural medicine, we're positioning naturopathic platforms to be the top-viewed for their answers.
  • HYPE is especially geared toward amplifying and supporting BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and others who have long been marginalized and oppressed in society and in the naturopathic profession.
  • HYPE creates opportunities to gain exposure, enhance writing and speaking skills, and introduce the public to a larger and more diverse array of naturopathic doctors and medical students.

In April 2020, the Institute for Natural Medicine (INM) launched HYPE as a new tool to rapidly curate naturopathic content and drastically increase the support and exposure of more NDs in the profession.

INM tested different structures for the tool, gathered content requests, and held an open dialogue with initial participants on how to improve this mechanism.

Throughout June, HYPE shifted from posting to listening and discussing with participants and the community how this tool can especially better serve the BIPOC community.

Permanent and ongoing topics have been identified to bring justice in what information and whose voices are published on naturopathic platforms:

  • Health for BIPOC Community
  • Honoring Indigenous Roots
  • Health for LGBTQIA+ Community
  • Health for Communities of Varied Abilities
  • Social Determinants of Health
  • Access to Natural Medicine
  • Naturopathic Medical Education, Training
  • Role of Natural Medicine in Healthcare

Additional topics are covered as comments are submitted by HYPE participants and incoming external media opportunities.

Community-guided content direction empowers HYPE participants to help lead the way for where naturopathic content goes, what is covered, and whose voices are provided various platforms.

Content direction is provided by HYPE participants, organizations within the Naturopathic Medicine Collaborative (NMC), NMC Summit Action Teams, the INM Team, and any interested committees or task forces within the naturopathic profession.

We are grateful for all of the feedback and are glad to present the current culmination of those contributions. HYPE began with a small beta test group and is now ready for all to join!
