Contact Your Congressional Representative to Support Medicare Pilot Project for NDs Mike Jawer | AANP Director of Government and Public Affairs
Take a moment to send a message to your Representative, urging them to sign onto a letter in support of a pilot project covering naturopathic care for seniors in Medicare who are at risk for cardiovascular disease. At the AANP’s DC FLI last May, a large Oregon delegation from OANP and NUNM knocked on the doors of Congress to ask them to support a pilot project to demonstrate the benefits of covering visits by seniors to naturopathic physicians.
Two members of the U.S. House of Representatives, Reps. Mark Pocan (D-WI) and Chellie Pingree (D-ME), have agreed to lead the initiative on Capitol Hill. They are asking for signatures on a letter that will be sent to the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation, urging CMMI to undertake a study evaluating the health and cost benefits of naturopathic care for seniors at risk for cardiovascular disease.
Such a demonstration project would be a win/win - for Medicare beneficiaries as well as taxpayers, and we anticipate would be the first step toward getting Medicare to recognize Naturopathic Physicians as a provider type. Click here to send a quick message today. (Note that Representative DeFazio has already signed onto the letter. Eugene residents can send him a thank you!)
