From Bastyr University ND students Darlene Lee and Shyamia Stone

Many naturopathic students like ourselves are drawn to working with underserved and under-resourced communities in the U.S. However, our experience is that it has been difficult to find opportunities to do so, and that the roadmap towards community health practice after graduation is not clear. Our intent with this project is to survey practices/clinics in which naturopathic doctors are currently serving underserved populations. We plan to compile this data to gain a more comprehensive picture of the ways in which naturopathic doctors can meet the needs of underserved populations, and to highlight barriers to a larger presence in community-based health. We plan to present this information at the Integrative Medicine for the Underserved (IM4US) conference in August 2017, as well as at other conferences, yet to be determined.

Please forward this survey widely to any, and all NDs or NMDs who serve underserved populations (low-income, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ communities, refugee/immigrant, rural, etc.).
