OANP is seeking knowledgeable and engaging speakers to deliver live or pre-recorded lectures on Pharmacy and Ethics continuing education topics this fall. We welcome proposals from naturopathic physicians and community experts who can provide practical, evidence-informed content.

Presentations should focus on pharmacology education and may incorporate clinical pearls, case studies, research updates, practical considerations for patient care, and interdisciplinary perspectives on brain health. Relevant topic areas may include neurology, mental health, blood–brain barrier dysfunction (“leaky brain”), and other related subjects.

The conference will anchor our yearlong theme: Heart, Brain & Gut: The Healing Axis of Whole-Body Wellness. This theme will guide lecture topics and educational programming throughout the year, highlighting the interconnected systems that drive whole-person health.

We’re still feeling the glow from last month’s 30th Annual OANP Conference. A heartfelt thanks to all our attendees, volunteers, partners, and exhibitors. Your energy and presence helped us mark three incredible decades of advocacy, education, and community for naturopathic medicine in Oregon.

This year’s conference brought together 135 in person attendees who explored 38 exhibitor booths from across the city, state, and country. Over two days, our community shared ideas, clinical pearls, and stories that reminded us why we do this work. The weekend was packed with advanced learning, new connections, meaningful conversations, and lots of joy in the room — and we left feeling inspired, refreshed, and better equipped to help patients find and treat the root causes of hormonal imbalances.

We were especially delighted to hear this year’s Living Legend Award recipient, Dr. Steven Sandberg-Lewis, share his “acceptance speech” in the most memorable way — through a heartfelt musical performance and song that had the whole room smiling (and maybe tearing up a little). What a beautiful reminder of the warmth and creativity that make our community so special.

We also want to give another huge congratulations to our Rising Stars of 2025, Dr. Maeghan Cook and Dr. Rebecca Principe. Your passion and dedication to advancing naturopathic medicine inspire us all. Well deserved, everyone!

Led by a panel of an expert clinician, educator, and pharmacist, this session will blend clinical insights, patient-centered perspectives, and advanced pharmaceutical compounding strategies. Dr. Alethea Fleming, ND
A passionate advocate for naturopathic geriatric medicine, Dr. Fleming has spent over fifteen years serving elders and “someday-elders” at her Vital Aging Clinic in Anacortes, WA. A graduate of Bastyr University and certified in Gerontology through the University of Washington, Dr. Fleming is also adjunct faculty at Bastyr and Middle Way Acupuncture Institute. She currently serves as a Board Member for the WANP and is active with AGS and AANP. Her deep commitment to aging well shines through her clinical work and teaching.

Dr. Natalie Gustafson, R.Ph, PharmD
A compounding pharmacist specializing in holistic, personalized medicine, Dr. Gustafson is the owner and Director of Pharmacy at Lloyd Central Compounding. She’s a frequent speaker at organizations like OANP, NUNM, and the Institute of Women’s Health. Known for her focus on safety, collaboration, and quality, Dr. Gustafson brings a grounded and practical approach to hormone therapy. Outside of the lab, she enjoys yoga, puzzles, and photographing cats.

Dr. Joy Nauman, ND, MS, MEd
Dr. Nauman is a Yakima-based naturopathic physician specializing in pediatrics, women’s health, neurodiversity, and gender-affirming care. She serves as Research Director for Whole Systems Healthcare and is the inaugural Chief Editor of the forthcoming GastroANP journal. With advanced degrees in both science and education—and a background in Montessori methodology—Dr. Nauman integrates inclusive, trauma-informed care with clinical excellence and research rigor.

OANP is thrilled to announce our Saturday Conference Opening Keynote Presentation, bringing together three dynamic leaders in naturopathic, functional medicine, and pharmacy practice for a deep dive into the root causes of hormonal imbalances.

This session will integrate perspectives from clinical naturopathic care, functional medicine frameworks, and pharmacy-based compounding to provide attendees with actionable tools for identifying, understanding, and addressing hormonal imbalances from a root-cause perspective.

The panel will explore hormonal health through multiple lenses, from therapeutic order considerations to advanced diagnostic testing and culturally reflective care.

Dr. Sunita Iyer, ND, LM
As a midwife and ND for 17 years, I have enjoyed a bit of the “town doctor” life. Working with families to welcome babies, navigate parenthood, move through mid-life, and grow older has been a central part of my practice. My journey began with my undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago (’98) and my doctorate at Bastyr University (’08). In between, I spent several years working at a residential program in Boston, MA, supporting pregnant and parenting teenage women. Currently, I teach grad and undergrad nursing and public health students at University of Washington Bothell.

Dr. Elise Schroeder, ND
Dr. Elise Schroeder is a naturopathic doctor, herbalist, and women’s health specialist with over two decades of clinical experience. She has consulted on thousands of hormone cases and previously served as Executive Director of Women in Balance. Dr. Schroeder is known for integrating functional lab analysis with compassionate, patient-centered care. 

Regina Karpa, PharmD
I’m Regina Karpa, PharmD—a compounding pharmacist based in Oregon with a deep passion for root-cause medicine and whole-person care. I’m currently completing my fellowship in functional medicine through A4M and serve as the Oregon State Chapter Leader for the Functional Medicine Pharmacists Alliance (FMPhA), a national organization committed to integrating functional medicine into pharmacy practice. I bring a unique lens to hormone health through my work in compounding, my training in systems biology, and my desire to help bridge the gap between conventional and personalized care.
