Brain on Fire: Approaches to Summer Seasonal Affective Disorder (1 General CEU)
Description |
Most people think of Seasonal Affective Disorder a wintertime disorder, caused or exacerbated by short days, low light, lethargy and depression. But climate change’s effects are worsening conditions that lead to summer seasonal depression. Although summer S.A.D. is less prevalent than its winter sibling, it is gaining recognition as our summers warm and their effects intensify. This talk will look at ways summer S.A.D.’s presentations differ (and don’t) from winter S.A.D., how its etiologies differ (and don’t) from winter S.A.D., and how NDs can apply our extensive, eclectic toolboxes to help our patients. Learning Objectives:
- Differences and similarities between the presentations of winter and summer Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.)
- Specific factors exacerbating summer S.A.D.
- Naturopathic and lifestyle actions to support summer S.A.D.
- Foods and nutrients to support summer S.A.D.
- Herbs to support summer S.A.D.
This lecture was originally presented for the 2024 Spring Seminar.
